MEET THE ‘PETS’ TRAINER: BEATRIX, CPDT-KA, UW-AAB

Beatrix began her professional career in the tourism and hospitality sector, but in 2016, she transitioned to working with dogs due to her deep love for animals. By 2020, after four years of full-time work with dogs in various settings, studying canine behavior, and completing a trainer apprenticeship at a local dog rescue in Maryland, Beatrix became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT).

Her earlier experiences as a pet sitter, dog walker, and dog daycare attendant gave her valuable insights into dog behavior and dynamics in individual and group situations. Since starting as a trainer in 2020, Beatrix has instructed and assisted at many dog training group classes for various organizations and helped many pet owners in private settings.

Pets have been a significant part of Beatrix’s life since childhood, starting with her family’s first pet, Betty, a rescued Dachshund mix. She has since raised two more dogs: Norbi, a miniature Dachshund, and her current eight-year-old standard Doxie, Simon. Beatrix is particularly enthusiastic about puppy socialization, especially for small breeds. She aims to bridge the communication gap between dog handlers and their beloved pets through heartfelt training in both private and group classes.

Driven by her passion for science, Beatrix pursued a certificate in Applied Animal Behavior at the University of Washington to enhance her understanding of canine behavior. This knowledge enables her to provide reliable information to fellow dog lovers.

Additionally, she is pursuing continuing education credits to obtain the Certified Behavior Consultant Canine (CBCC) certification, which will enable her to assist dogs needing more complex behavior modification treatment plans in individual and group settings.
